Baby Update!

We went back to get another ultrasound and everything appeared to be normal. Her bowels were spotted but it wasn't a solid brightness like it was last time! We saw her taking big gulps of fluid while we were watching. The night before we told her to drink a lot of the fluid if she does not have Down Syndrome, and it looks like she listens to us! The ultrasound tech said that the doctor would look it over and if he saw any problems, he would let my midwife know if he wanted me to come in some more to be monitored. So far we have not heard anything yet. Everything still checks out well too! Thanks for keeping us in your prayers!

I don't know how many people actually read my blog, but if you do please keep my baby in your prayers. When we went to get the ultrasound yesterday, the technician found something wrong with the baby. There was not enough water in the bowel area. They said that it could just be that she did not drink that much of the fluid that morning, or it could be an indication of Down Syndrome. The doctor said that there are no other indication's that the baby has Down Syndrome but they want me back in four weeks to make sure. Surprisingly, I am not too worried. I'm just thankful that the heart, brain and other parts of the body turned out okay. You would never wish your child to have a disability, but I feel like if the baby does have Down Syndrome, it would not be the worst thing in the world. Since I had a brother who died, I have always had that in the front of my mind. Not to be pessimistic but just being realistic. I feel blessed to have seen such a boy and the miracles that he has brought to our lives. My brother has helped me see that even in the pain there is beauty. So, if it is Down Syndrome I know that she and us, her parents, will be okay. But just pray that everything goes well and that whatever happens God will give us the strength to deal with it!

Drumroll please!

So I went to get my ultrasound today. And I can't believe this but I am having a girl! I'm a little scared but everyone keeps telling me it is going to be okay. With the way that the women are in my family and Abraham's, she will be quite a handful. Don't get me wrong, the women in our families are strong, independent and good-hearted but we are all as stubborn and headstrong as mules. My mother is wonderful and I feel blessed to have such a wonderful and strong woman to look up to. However, I also know that there are many responses that I do not want to inherit. I can already see my mother coming through when I interact with my niece who is rather similar to me. And it scares me. Every parent messes up and it is inevitable, but it still scares me. I just need to remember to be conscious about my responses to my daughter. Thank God I can see how wonderful and big-hearted those women are. My sisters and I have turned out okay, so I need to remember that!

I am pregnant. Sorry Dan, for taking so long to blog about it! I'm pretty sure that everyone who reads my blog has already known this for awhile, but just in case you didn't know there is the official news. My first doctor's appointment is February 11. I can't wait! So we will see how it is going then.

Who do actor's think they are?

Lately I have been so frustrated that actors, musicians and sports figures get paid such a ridiculous amount of money! I think it is absurd how much we pay them. Doctors get paid way less but they are SAVING LIVES! And how did those doctors get to where they are? Through teachers. Unfortunately, our society values these people much more than those who make a real difference in other people's lives. Today I heard that they are considering an actor's strike in Hollywood. Are you freaking kidding me? I just have to say that I love Tom Hanks and George Clooney in their plea to not start a strike! The Screen Actor's Guild is infuriating! As if they don't have enough money!

Locked from the Inside Out

I am sitting in my house at this moment and I just had to share something that is absolutely hilarious! I am locked in my house with the door unlocked! I know! I know! I sound crazy right now but I'm serious! I'm sure that if it were a dark and stormy night, it would be pretty freaky. Having your door unlocked but not being able to get out could be scary, but on a bright sunny day it is just HILARIOUS! Oh maintenance is here! Freedom!
