I am now officially, completely freaked out! My sister-in-law had her baby last Monday and it made it very real that this will happen any day now. We were due only 4 weeks apart and I'll be 37 weeks on Saturday. Many people have told me not to worry and that I will make a good parent, but at this point I am not so much worried about being a good parent as I am about pushing something so large out of something so small.
Before I got pregnant, I thought it was pretty crazy and miraculous that our bodies could make another human being. But now that it has happened to me I just think it is bizarre, miraculous yes, but still very bizarre. The feeling and seeing my stomach move, that there is a human being in there that shares the DNA of me and my husband, that it will come out and grow up to be another separate human being that will grow old and have babies too. It just blows my mind. It makes me wonder how atheists can be pregnant and not believe in God. It's just too perfect to be random.

I obviously can't directly relate to all of the thoughts and feelings that you are having right now. Yet, as I read this, i feel like i get it sort of - all the strange feelings and what not - albeit not to the same depth that you do. It was so surreal watching Addie kick from inside of Sarah, and so daunting thinking about being a dad: the responsibility and the change that would mean to my life.
Yet of course, you know... i don't have a vagina and i'll never have to squeeze a baby through that stuff, but I can't imagine that will be a good experience, so i'm pretty sorry about that. I mean, let's be honest, that has to be horribly painful. Usually they gotta stitch that shit up afterward, you know? Ok, i'm sure I'm not helping. And to be honest, I couldn't watch my own little gunger coming out of sarah. (i stood behind Sarah's head and was a total puss and what not.) Oh man, i'm babeling a whole heck of a lot right now, so i should stop. Uh, I hope you love being a mom and that you & your mister have a lot of fun with it.
I hope we get a chance to see you guys this summer while we are out there (but obviously understand if it won't work out)... Okay. take care.
Thanks Dan! Much to your surprise I'm sure, that did help. Gave me a good laugh! :)
Any day no, girl... how are you feeling? You guys have to be excited!
She's still hanging out in there! She seems like she wants out because she keeps ramming her head into my pelvic bone (well, at least that is what it feels like) but my body won't seem to work with it. I keep having contractions and some painful-ish ones but nothing yet. I'm getting tired of it now. Last Saturday my body was just suddenly like "Let's make this as uncomfortable as possible." I am, for the most part, ready to be done.
