Who would you vote for...

TODAY if it was Election Day? I sit here listening to Barack Obama at the Democratic Convention and I feel such a struggle inside. Being brought up in a Republican home it is hard for me to let go of that. I am definitely in the middle. It is hard when you are not okay with abortion but you are still considered a "bleeding heart" because of your concern for the poor. And it also sucks because I like John McCain as our Senator in Arizona. He did a lot of work for reform in immigration. That holds a special place in my heart because of the huge effect it has on the people I love! However, it is time for me to let go of the old and figure out the new! So, really who would you vote for?

A friend recently told me "A true friend is someone who finds your kid adorable even after they pooped all over you." Yes, this happened but I couldn't help it! You should have seen how cute he was! So, when I have babies I expect you all to pass this test!

I just found out that a good friend of mine (who must remain unnamed at this point) had a miscarriage and my heart breaks as I think about it. I just found out last night but had to seriously hold myself back from planning to go this weekend to see them. Realistically, I knew that it would not be possible to go. At my work, there are so many parents who are pregnant that really need to not be. One is 16 and has an eight month old in our class. She really does not need to have another because she is already struggling with being a good mother to the first. Then there is the one that already has four kids and whose "husband" tried to get a paternity test on the last one they had. Not a good relationship! Then there is one who is getting a divorce and hasn't told her ex that she is pregnant (not his). Plus, who can forget all the kids at Neighborhood who are pregnant or just had a baby! I can hardly count them and they keep popping up! I know from experience that God gives us children who are sick or are miscarried for a good reason. I think that kids are one of the things that can really get us outside of ourselves and make us question our faith in God, especially when things go bad. I know that my brother that died was here for a reason and I would not have changed it for anything! But it still makes you question Him. But maybe that is important. It is only when we question things that we can really examine our faith. It means we are alive and can feel both joy and sorrow. If we cannot do that then what is life worth?

Sweetness!

I love living in Tucson! It has been such a blessing! This last weekend I went to a Women's Retreat and it was really good to be around women. I'm not sure who decided that you don't need female relationships once you are married, but they were sorely wrong! I have one complaint though! Why is it that women are always given the short end of the stick when it comes to what they get to do on retreats? The men get to go camping for the same price as us going to a resort and having lunch! Not even breakfast, just lunch. I'm a little bummed. Women get lunch, teas, etc. and men get to do the fun stuff! I guess a lot of the younger women were complaining but I guess we have to consider the older women who can't make it in that kind of situation. Also, why is it that its ok for men to go away for the weekend but women can hardly get themselves out of the house for an afternoon? Do men really fall apart when they are left at home alone with the kids? Are they really that fragile or is it all (or mostly) pretend?

I know that there is so much political rhetoric going on right now that sometimes you just want to crawl in a hole but I just had to say something about an email I just recieved. My aunt just sent me an email discussing how the original writer (of the email) believes that Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ! God forbid that someone poilitical could reach across the lines of our bi-partisan issues so that we could get along for maybe five minutes. But even then, not everybody is joyfully voting for him. There is even a chance he may not get elected for the Democratic Party. I'm surprised they are not nominating Hillary Clinton as the Anti-Christ. I have to say that I'm not quite sure what side of the fence I am on but, seriously, come on! This is ridiculous! What is wrong with our country! Well, I guess I just have to say, this bleeding heart Liberal is out! Peace! (Uh oh! Now maybe they'll start suspecting me of being the Anti-Christ since I said and want Peace! :0 )
